Kilkenny Hotel joins Select Hotels of Ireland Group

The four star Kilkenny Ormonde hotel has just announced that it is to form part of the Select Hotels of Ireland group. The hotel is right in the center of Kilkenny city in Ormonde Street and a just very short walk from one of the city’s main attractions, Kilkenny Castle. The hotel’s location is ideal for those wishing to visit Kilkenny’s many shops, restaurants, bars and theatres. The hotel has 118 bedrooms, a modern conference center that can cater for over 500 delegates and is one of the top wedding venues in the area.

The hotel recently won the Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce’s Age Friendly Award and offers a wide variety of accommodation to suit the needs of a wide range of guests. The hotel also boasts a health and leisure Club as well as conference and banqueting facilities and is a great location for family breaks and romantic escapes as well as for business.

General Manager of the hotel, Colin Ahern views joining Select Hotels of Ireland as an important step toward achieving the hotel’s 2013 promotional strategy. Mr Ahern said: “In a vastly changed and competitive market it is very important that we join forces with similar properties, to promote a traditional Irish welcome to the home holiday market and holiday makers from abroad. We believe that Select Hotels can help us deliver our targets and create an extra dimension to our business, without losing our hotel’s individual identity. We look forward to becoming part of the Select family and through this promoting our special hotel to a wider national and international audience.”

General Manager of Select Hotels of Ireland, Una Young, expressed her satisfaction at the fact that the Kilkenny Ormonde is now part of the Select Group. At the recent launch she said: “Each of our hotels has a history of great Irish hospitality, quality accommodation and wonderful service plus each have something really unique to offer. I am delighted to have the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel join as a member of Select Hotels of Ireland as it’s a hotel with a great reputation for  looking after its customers with wonderful service and Irish hospitality, set in a wonderful location which is already proving popular with our enquiries.”

Select Hotels of Ireland now has a portfolio of 25 hotels throughout the country. The company was established 12 years ago as a marketing vehicle for independently owned 3 and 4 star hotels that have a strong record of offering traditional Irish hospitality.
